Details

In 2013, after outgrowing their former 1939 facility, the YMCA in southeast Greensboro launched their $11 million capital campaign to fund the building of a new facility able to accommodate 1,000 additional members. The new building makes use of modern technologies and design to bring the Y into the 2010s. The aquatics center will feature a 4-lane lap pool, splash play area, and water fitness training. An elevated running track oversees 2 full basketball courts. Youth also benefit from the two dedicated soccer fields, child watch, and intergenerational center. A 280-space parking lot has been added to accommodate the growing membership. Their new 55,000 SF location makes the Y more visible and accessible to the surrounding community and makes partnerships with businesses and education institutions a more viable option than ever before.
